Random Randomness #34 — Moe Berg; Athlete, Scholar… Spy

moebergMoe Berg — (March 02, 1902 – May 29, 1972)

One of Baseball’s most interesting characters.  A graduate  of Princeton University, Moe played 15 seasons in Pro ball – mostly with the Indians, Red Sox and White Sox.  He was also a radio quiz show favorite who would regularly stump audiences with his vast knowledge of history, language and the sciences.  He served as a spy before, during, and after WWII and was instrumental in recruiting German rocket scientists for the American space agencies after the war.

A true character in every sense of the word.

If you get a chance, pick up MOE BERG, Athlete, Scholar… SPY, you’ll be glad you did!
