Today In Baseball History – October 20, 1936

1937-Carl-Hubbell-200

On this day back in 1936, Carl Hubbell (26-6) edged out Dizzy Dean (24-13) to win the NL MVP. Yes, I said the MVP – Hubbell posted a 2.98 era over 16 seasons with the New York Giants winning 253 gamers while coming up on the short end 154 times for a .622 win/loss percentage. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
